MyFitnessPal User Interface Redesign Project

MyFitnessPal User Interface Redesign Project
MyFitnessPal is known for its free mobile app that tracks calories and fitness goals. With an estimated 200 million users, the majority of people use the app for its nutrition, calorie counting, and weight-loss features. Now that is no longer owned by fitness brand Under Armour (Links to an external site.), the brand is partnering with health food brands (Links to an external site.) to re-focus on its calorie tracking and nutrition functions, and make any fitness tracking a support to nutrition and weight-loss.

MyFitnessPal feels that the calorie counting and weight tracking features are working well and they do not want to change more than surface level details inside the app. Unfortunately, users tests show that the home screen is cluttered and it is hard to navigate. The purpose of this project is to rework the hierarchy of the home screen to focus more on food tracking, and less on everything else.

Before starting this redesign project, other designers and I have started doing some research on possible user personas.

My goal is to bring the focus on food tracking and calories summary. The Home page is going to functions as a dashboard so users could get a summary of their goals in an organized manner with a quick scan. There is a quick add function if they want to update the data for their calories. The Diary page is going to be a focus on recording their meals, or other data. It looks like a dairy so users could clearly look through the meals they have everyday. Below are the my newly redesigned MyFitnessPal app interface for the home screen and diary page:
